However, it’s not necessary to use the pure lemon flavor if you’re not using lemon juice.
We like to use a blend of vanilla and cream.
Lemon-flavored frosting is best when the frosted portion is relatively small and fluffy.
For this lemon butter-flavor frosting to be super-healthy, you want it to be at least three tablespoons (1.4 ounces) thick.
To make the frostings fluffy, we also recommend using powdered sugar or baking powder.
Lemon Butter Cream Frosting Ingredients 1 cup (250 grams) unsalted butter, softened 2 large eggs, at room temperature, room temperature 3/4 cup (60 grams) granulated sugar, packed or strained 3 tablespoons (50 grams) lemon juice (about 1 lemon) 1 tablespoon (15 grams) milk 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (optional) 3 tablespoons milk (2.5 cups) cream (4 tablespoons) butter (1 tablespoon) Lemon Butter Frosting: 2 tablespoons (15 ml) powdered sugar, or 1 tablespoon baking powder Lemon Butter: 3 tablespoons lemon butter Cream: 1/2 cup (120 ml) cream Directions In a medium saucepan, melt the butter.
Add the eggs and stir to combine.
Pour in the sugar, lemon juice, milk, and vanilla extract.
Stir until well combined.
Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes or until thickened.
Remove from the heat and stir in the cream.
Chill for at least 2 hours or overnight.
For best results, store in an airtight container at room temperatures.
